Nita Good Book

Lately, I've been reading quite a bit a romance, mostly historical and paranormal with a little contemporary mixed in. I also enjoy fantasy, urban fantasy, and history.

Storm's Heart - Thea Harrison 4.5 Stars

I really did enjoy this story as much as the first book in this series. Harrison has created a fun world with awesome characters. I couldn't quite give it the full 5 stars. From the first book, I pictured Niniane (Tricks) a little differently - less of a cryer I guess. I should probably give her a break; she was in a very stressful situation. She does cry, though - a lot.

But I loved Tiago in all his alpha brutishness. He is one of those characters that scares everyone, is not nice to anyone, but can't help but be sweet and caring towards Niniane. Swoon-worthy, I tell you.

As for the story - Niniane, the last of the Dark Fey royal family, is to take the throne after her uncle (who had murdered the rest of her family to take the throne 200 years before), is killed. Of course there are people who do not want her to take the throne and she must deal with assassination attempts. This is where Tiago comes in, to keep her safe until the coronation. Easier said than done when you have not just Dark Fey involved, but also vampires and Wyr. Tiago, himself, is a Wyr who can shape shift into a giant thunderbird. I really liked Tiago and Niniane's interactions. When she was not crying, their interactions were funny and sweet and sexy. The only thing that creeped me out was when he called her "young lady". Ew.

Rune and Carling's story is next. From the little we learn about Carling in this book, I am anxious to learn more about her past.
